Act Development Series for Experienced Performers
Burlesque 201+

Desire space to be creatively challenged and held accountable while creating a new Burlesque act?

This online series supports you in all elements of creating a stunning performance, including music selection, storyline development and choreography. We meet together via Zoom for discussion and feedback, and have dedicated work weeks for building acts.

Participants are divided into 2 groups that take turns presenting their act plans. All participants have at least two opportunities to share their act with the full group.

Those who wish to travel to Portland are invited to perform in a paid Showcase.

Polish That Pastie is for performers who have performed at least 1 Burlesque solo and understand the basic components of act creation. If you're new to Burlesque or would like greater support with act creation, check out my BodyMagick Burlesque Initiation in person or online.

Our schedule includes Work Weeks when we don't meet as a group, so that you have time to put the feedback into action, and book your private sessions.

If you didn't take your first Burlesque training with ShowGirl Temple, but want forever access to the online classroom with videos on act development, costuming, choreography principals, stage presences and more.

Timing:

You will receive access to the online classroom upon registrationso that you may begin preparing. The first portion of each meeting is dedicated to act Q&A. As time allows, we will play with mini choreographies and performance skills.

Meetings are via Zoom 6:30-9pm PT -- you're welcome to bring snacks and bevvies and we do take a mid-class break. Sample series flow:

Showcase, Portland, OR

Performing:

When you complete the series you're eligible to perform in a Showcase in Portland, OR.

Showcases are paid performances. All performers receive a share of the door, and include professional stage video and photos.

If you cannot come to Portland, we will help you apply to your local shows. We can't speak for other producers on bookings, but we'll guide you through the submission process and tell them why we recommend you.

This series was a safe space to cultivate and curate a new act without the confines of one's own insecurities and self-doubt. The expertise of a seasoned and professional showgirl alongside the feedback and encouragement of a talented group of performers allowed for growth in the craft, creativity to flourish, and confidence in the ability to pull it all off.
