You will learn how to shop for stripable clothing, how to check for the quality of pieces, where to salvage findings and trims, how to measure your body for the perfect vintage fits, and how to find sparkle in unexpected places.
If your budget is tight, you're new to sewing, or you just want to reduce, reuse and recycle, this class is for you!
Costume Cohesion
Beginning Design Theories
This class is an introduction to design theories that will help take your entire outfit to the next level. Utilizing shape, design, and color theory, we will break down the visual elements of successful costumes and translate any outfit into art for your body! This class is best suited for those with basic sewing skills, and a passion for costumes.
Option: bring a current costume you want to update, or photos of a current project for class discussion.

Costume Cohesion: 12:15-1:15pm
Studio in Southeast Portland; address sent upon registration. Space is on the ground floor with some spots of carpet, and includes a restroom.
Street parking.
Bring water and snacks to nourish yourself.

My name is Force Majeure, a recent Portland transplant by way of Detroit MI! I am an award-winning and title-holding burlesque performer and costumer, a transgender human, and above all, a passionate artist. I have been performing burlesque for 7 years, but sewing for decades!
I’m looking forward to empowering all performers to create the art they want to with the skills they need to do it. I’ve taught many classes through the Metro Detroit Burlesque Academy, including pattern drafting, headdress construction, costume cohesion, and more!
